TEXAS.  “It’s a whole other country.”


Texas has several must see travel destinations. It is 2nd largest state with almost 270,000 square miles of places to enjoy. Due to the sheer size of the state, there are so many different types of geography to see from the beach front on the Gulf of Mexico,  deserts of West Texas to the Guadalupe mountain range.   Whether you are on a short trip or taking a more leisurely approach, below are some places you definitely could see.


*Galveston–Located on the Gulf of Mexico, this island has a multitude of things to do. From hanging out of the beach, taking a dolphin tour, riding the ferry, salt-water fishing or exploring the seawall shops, you can enjoy the water life. If you prefer to stay off the water, you can explore Moody Gardens, the museums, shopping and lots and lots of seafood restaurants. The food is spectacular.  

*Austin- No visit to Texas would be complete without a stop in the State Capital. This bustling city is the political heart of Texas and the Capital building building is a must see. The city has walking tours, museums, historical areas and great shopping and restaurants. There is bustling nightlife and music scene. Don’t forget to see the bats that fly out from under Congress bridge every night at dusk.


*San Antonio- No visit to Texas is complete without seeing the history of the Alamo. Actually seeing it in person will bring it to life. Take a ride down the Riverwalk to see the incredible lights of the city. You can visit SeaWorld or Fiesta Texas for family fun.


*Fort Worth- Visit this city for a look at how the West was won. Watch a real cattle drive at the historic Stockyards, visit the world class Zoo, Botanical Gardens or take a walk down the Trinity River. There are a lot of great food and nightlife to enjoy also.


*Houston- Just 40 miles from Galveston, Houston is the largest city in Texas. There is so much to see and do such as the Zoo, Johnson Space Center, the world famous Livestock Show and Rodeo and Houston Aquarium. Enjoy the food and atmosphere of a true Texas city.



By adding Texas to your vacation itinerary, you can soak up the culture of the West.  As a life-long resident of Texas, I can truly recommend my home state for a great place to visit.

Best Beach Vacations in Europe

There are dozens of beautiful beaches in Europe, but we have attempted to highlight the 10 favorites of most European travelers.  There is no real grading criteria; but primarily just based on beauty and those deemed most popular by the crowds.

Cannes, France

Sitting nicely on the French Riviera, Cannes is also known for its annual film festival.Yes, the richest stars in the world love to travel here to the beauty.  Mace beach is one of the more popular beaches in the area.

Santorini, Greece

Perhaps the most picturesque of all the beaches due to the sea of white buildings against the amazing blue ocean.  This beach town looks like a postcard and may be one of the most photographed beach resort towns on the planet.  One of the beaches has red volcano rocks that really stand out at night.


Barcelona, Spain

Barcelona is a wonderful place to visit and is also known as a party town. We visited the South of France and the South of Spain while visiting Europe in 2005 and had a wonderful time on the beaches.  I met a guy in Barcelona who owns a Yuma Tow Truck company that was celebrating his 20th wedding anniversary.

Santa Margherita Ligure, Italy

Santa Margherita is a popular town for tourists who are visiting the Mediterranean in the summer.  It sits on the Italian Riviera and features a cove for sunbathers and a large pebbled beach.  It is definitely one of the most popular and beautiful beaches around.

Lagos, Portugal

European travelers love the Meia Praia beach in Portugal because of its size and its cleanliness. Due to its enormous size, its also a local favorite because the locals can grab a small piece of real estate and not worry about the beach being taken over by all the vacationers.

Marbella, Spain

Marbella is known as a party destination. It has been known to be a popular spot for traveling celebrities.  It also features beaches that are line with palm trees, Florida like.

Mykonos, Greece

Mykonos is famous for it’s golden sand and amazingly transparent blue water.  The city has many beaches to suit everyone.  There is a beach for families and a beach for parties and even a beach for nudists.  But, they all have beautiful in common.

Ischia, Italy

Ischia is an island near Capri.  It is a volcano island and it is not certain if this volcano is active or note. For that reason, it is actually not usually overcrowded.  Usually people who travel to Italy make this popular beach on a day trip from Naples.

Positano, Italy

Positano is a neat little village on the Riviera with rows and rows of colorful houses.  On the beachfront are more pebbled beaches and plenty of bars and restaurants for the nightlife.  The Marina Grande beach is the most popular beach in this quaint little picturesque town.

Biarritz, France

Bairritz hosts lots of surfers in the summer and is also knows to attract rich clientele throughout the year visiting the local casino Barriere.
